ASSOCIATE RESEARCH SCIENTIST POSITION in the Department of Psychology, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
Reporting to a faculty member, the incumbent will be responsible for preparing information and conducting research activities in the area of social psychology and motivation and decision sciences, in addition to managing the daily activities of the research lab, which is involved in several experimental projects associated with different grants and granting agencies. This will require coordinating the research projects and sub-studies, developing a system for tracking participant data across them; gathering, analyzing and documenting lab data from past and current studies; managing grant budgets; determining research needs; developing study screening and scheduling methods; and providing for participant reimbursement. In addition, incumbent will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the Motivation Science Center, managing the logistics, data and budget for a yearly seminar series that includes inside and outside speakers, organizing and managing yearly international conferences on motivation science. Other responsibilities include: researching and developing relevant content for the Center’s new web site, and designing a user friendly environment for learning, browsing and data acquisition for a broad audience.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Experimental or Social Psychology, with training in motivation and decision sciences and a background in web site development for a University audience. Experience in managing people and technical/research projects is necessary, as is the ability to handle the details associated with planning professional events.
