Description of Work

THIS POSITION WORKS TO PLAN, DESIGN, IMPLEMENT, AND EVALUATE PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS IN COLLABORATION WITH AND ON BEHALF OF THE NC COUNCIL ON DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THE PLANNER/EVALUATOR WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE 34 COUNCIL MEMBERS AS WELL AS WITH THE COUNCILS PROJECTS TO FURTHER THE MISSION OF THE COUNCIL. EXTENSIVE COLLABORATION AND NETWORKING WITH POLICY MAKERS, SERVICE AND SUPPORT SYSTEMS, PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, ADVOCACY AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

THIS POSITION MUST HAVE STRONG SKILLS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

COMMUNICATION, ORGANIZATION, PLANNING, FISCAL AND PROGRAMMATIC ASPECTS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND CONTEMPORARY POLICY ANALYSIS. PROGRESSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE MENTAL RETARDATION/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY FIELD IS ESSENTIAL. ABILITY TO COLLABORATE WITH DIVERSE GROUPS IS REQUIRED. FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY FIELD OR LIFE EXPERIENCES. (NOTE: FOR APPLICANTS WITH DISABILITIES OR FAMILY MEMBERS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WHO MAY NOT MEET TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS, THE EMPLOYER WILL CONSIDER USE OF A TRAINING SEQUENCE.)

Training and Experience Requirements

PLANNER) A MASTER'S DEGREE IN PUBLIC OR HUMAN SERVICE ADMINISTRATION OR A HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAMMATIC FIELD, PREFERABLY WITH COURSE WORK IN HUMAN SERVICES PLANNING, AND TWO YEARS OF HUMAN SERVICE EXPERIENCE, ONE OF WHICH MUST HAVE BEEN IN HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAM PLANNING; OR GRADUATION FROM A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY AND FOUR YEARS OF PROGRESSIVE ADMINISTRATIVE OR CONSULTATIVE EXPERIENCE IN A HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAM, ONE OF WHICH MUST HAVE BEEN IN HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAM PLANNING; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.

How to Apply:

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) selects applicants for employment based on job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities without regard to race, color, gender, national origin, religion, age, disability, political affiliation or political influence.
