The Department has a strong collegial atmosphere and excellent support for research and teaching. The Department provides doctoral training in applied cognitive science and master’s degree programs in clinical and experimental psychology. Cognitive Psychology. We are seeking three candidates with a doctorate in cognitive psychology or a related field with interests in the application of cognitive psychology/cognitive science to real-world problems. Two of the positions are at the junior level and one is a senior-level position. Applications representing any sub-specialization in cognitive science, broadly defined, are welcome. Candidates for this position will be expected to maintain an active, high-quality research program. Clinical Psychology. We are seeking candidates to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Applicants must have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with a minimum of 18 credits from a psychology department, an APA-approved internship, and be license-eligible (i.e., 2000 supervised postdoctoral hours). The successful candidate will maintain a program of scholarly research, teach clinically oriented undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate student research, and assist in the development of our psychology clinic. The area of specialization is open. The clinical M.S. program is accredited by the Masters in Psychology Accreditation Council. Social Psychology. We are seeking candidates with a doctorate in social psychology or a related specialization. The particular area of specialization is open. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a program of scholarly research and to teach undergraduate and graduate social psychology courses, and some of the following courses: experimental psychology, behavioral statistics, interpersonal relationships, environmental psychology, social cognition, or motivation. Applicants for each position must have either demonstrated potential for (Assistant Professor level) or an established record of (Associate or Full Professor level) excellence in research. Many psychology faculty have collaborative research programs with colleagues in the department as well as in other departments and research institutes, which include the Engineering Research Center, Institute for Neurocognitive Science and Technology, Social Science Research Center, and the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision. Situated in a pleasant, friendly community with a favorable cost-of-living, Mississippi State University is a modern and comprehensive university. It is the largest in the state system and enrolls its most talented study body. Applicants are expected to have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by the date of employment.
