Assistant/Associate in Social Psychology
Assistant/Associate in Cognitive Psychology

Bard College seeks two full-time tenure-track faculty in psychology at the assistant or associate level to begin in Fall 2005. The psychology faculty work closely with program faculty in science, mathematics and computing to emphasize a multi-disciplinary approach to the natural and social sciences. The central emphases of the psychology curriculum are neuroscience, cognitive psychology, psychopathology and clinical psychology, developmental psychology and social psychology. We encourage dynamic interaction between the various areas of psychology and the life sciences, and stress the commonalities and points of intersection between disciplines. We are seeking individuals who will enhance these interactions by being flexible in their approach to teaching psychology and by being adventurous about stepping across traditional boundary lines within the discipline. Quantitative sophistication and multi-level integrative research approaches are essential. The first position is in the area of cognitive psychology. We seek individuals interested in areas such as memory, cognitive neuroscience and language with the area of particular research interest open. The second position is in the area of social psychology. We are especially interested in individuals engaged in areas such as social neuroscience, social cognition or social factors in psychopathology and who have a broad grasp of traditional areas such as attitudes, stereotypes, and social influence. For both of these positions it is expected that the individual will teach introductory courses, courses at the intermediate and advanced levels, a laboratory course, as well as statistics and/or research methods and supervise undergraduate research. A record of significant research accomplishment at the associate level and a research program of considerable promise at the assistant level are required. Applications will be reviewed as received but must be received by November 1. A letter of application, vita, teaching/research statements, teaching evaluations, reprints/preprints, and three letters of recommendation should be sent to: Chair of Search Committee, c/o Human Resources Office, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York 12504. AA/EOE.
