The Department of Psychology at North Dakota State University announces a tenure-track Assistant Professor opening beginning 15 August 2004. We also invite inquiries about a more advanced position, which would be contingent on funding.

We are seeking someone with a specialization in health and social psychology to support our Ph.D. program in Health/Social Psychology. We expect a person applying for this position to seek external funding from the National Institutes of Health or similar granting agencies. The minimum requirements for the position include evidence of research potential with human participants, teaching promise, nearly completed Ph.D., an ability to interact effectively with colleagues and students, and effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Preferred requirements include a completed Ph.D., research interests that complement the health/social faculty interests, and the ability to teach existing courses in our undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

Our 14-member department offers excellent human research facilities, start-up funds, and a teaching load of 3 courses/year. Course needs include a graduate course in health/social, undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative methods, and undergraduate courses in social, health, and introductory psychology. Visiting scholars (http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/psychology/colloquia/) find our department to be exceptionally collegial and friendly. Animal research facilities are unavailable, so we cannot consider applications from individuals whose research requires animals. For more information, see http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/psychology/

To apply, send a cover letter describing research and teaching interests and accomplishments, a CV, copies of publications, supporting materials (e.g., a summary of teaching evaluations), and 3 reference letters. Submit materials to — Kevin McCaul, Chair, Health/Social Search Committee, Psychology, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND 58105 5075. Inquiries: Kevin.McCaul@ndsu.nodak.edu, telephone (701) 231 7072. Applications will be reviewed beginning January 20, 2004 and will be accepted until the position is filled. NDSU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
