Applications are invited for a two-year research position funded by the ESRC. The person appointed will work on a project led by Dr. Marco Perugini in collaboration with Dr. Mark Conner (University of Leeds) on the interplay between implicit and explicit attitudes. The research will be aimed at comparing the predictive power of implicit and explicit attitudes and at investigating the functional form in which they combine en route to influence behaviour, and it will be focused on prosocial behaviours and dietary choices. The work will involve preparation of preliminary surveys and data collection, developing computerised and laboratory experiments, data collection, statistical analysis, and assistance with the writing of scientific reports. The post will be based at the University of Essex. Ideally, applicants should have a PhD in social cognitive/experimental psychology or be close to completion. The appointment starting in June 2003 or as soon as possible thereafter will be for 24 months on the Grade 1A/1B scale for research staff, £18,265-£20,311 per annum, starting point depending upon qualifications and experience.
