The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications for an Assistant Professor-level tenure-track faculty position in the Social and Personality Psychology program to begin August 2024. We encourage applications from those already in assistant professor-level positions. Although we will consider applications from any interest area in social/personality psychology, our preference is to hire in the areas of diversity science, cultural psychology, moral psychology, and/or intergroup or interpersonal relations.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record of impactful research in Social and/or Personality Psychology, a potential to secure external funding, and a capacity to contribute to teaching and student success at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. UIC is an urban research university and a federally-designated Minority-Serving Institution. As such, applicants should be committed to advancing diversity and equity in the classroom, research laboratory, and beyond.

Salary is competitive and research conditions are excellent. The standard teaching load for tenure-track faculty in our department is three courses per academic year.

The Psychology Department is home to a vibrant Ph.D. program in social/personality psychology and provides ample opportunities and facilities for research. UIC is home to the nation’s largest medical school, a public law school, and 16 colleges including public health and social work. There are extensive opportunities for collaboration on campus and at other universities in the Chicago metropolitan area.

For additional information about the Psychology department and the Social and Personality program see https://psch.uic.edu/ and about the university see http://www.uic.edu.

Application deadline: October 10, 2023 by 5PM (CST). Questions about the position should be directed to the search committee chairs, Rebecca Littman (rlittman@uic.edu) and Mitch Roitman (mroitman@uic.edu). Final authorization of the position is subject to availability of funding. Applicants must submit an online application to the UIC Jobs Board (https://uic.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/1/home/requisition/6821?c=uic) and upload a cover letter, CV, research statement, teaching statement and diversity statement and provide the email addresses of three references. References will be solicited upon request. Questions about the application process should be directed to Jessie Morris-Forristall at jmorri7@uic.edu.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in social/personality psychology or closely allied field by the time of their appointment and demonstrate scholarly productivity, the potential for obtaining external funding, and promise of teaching excellence.
