Ref 02146 Flinders University is located in Adelaide (South Australia), a cosmopolitan city of about one million people. Adelaide's geographical diversity, temperate climate, inexpensive and relaxed lifestyle make it an appealing environment in which to work and live. The School of Psychology has an outstanding international reputation in research and teaching. Its strengths are located broadly in the areas of applied cognitive psychology, clinical/health psychology, life span developmental psychology and social/organisational psychology. The School of Psychology is located in the Faculty of Social Sciences and has strong interdisciplinary links within and outside the university.

Applications are invited for a full-time Lecturer position (Academic Level B) (equivalent to an Assistant Professor in the US), available from August 2002. This is a continuing position. Candidates' research and teaching interests and expertise should be in the area of mainstream empirical social psychology.

Other essential criteria include a PhD in psychology (completed or submitted); evidence of capacity to teach effectively at undergraduate or postgraduate levels; evidence of research productivity in area of specialisation; capacity to supervise students and develop links with experienced researchers in the School; and publication in refereed journals.

DUTY STATEMENT

The appointee will be required to

·lecture, teach and assess students in the undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs of the School in social psychology.

·supervise students at Honours and postgraduate levels

·conduct independent and/or collaborative research leading to publication in refereed journals

·contribute to the administrative activities of the School

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

·a PhD in psychology (completed or submitted)

·strong background and currently research active in mainstream empirical social psychology

·evidence of successful teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level or demonstration of effective presentation skills and coherent teaching philosophy

·evidence of research in area of expertise

·capacity to supervise research students and develop links with experienced researchers in the school

·publication in refereed journals

Desirable

·ability to teach and supervise students in organisational psychology

·acquisition of competitive research funds

·experience in research supervision

·experience in administrative activities at departmental, faculty or university level
