JOB QUALIFICATIONS: • Primary degree (Level 8 NFQ) in psychology. • Doctoral degree (Level 10 NFQ) in psychology or a cognate discipline. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The successful candidate is expected to: • Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level on accredited psychology programmes. • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research. • Strengthen the department’s research profile in one or more of the following areas: health psychology, social psychology. • Undertake administrative tasks associated with an academic position. Essential Criteria • Primary degree (Level 8 NFQ) in psychology. • Doctoral degree (Level 10 NFQ) in psychology or a cognate discipline. • Experience and skills in teaching in psychology in a third-level institution. • Experience in supervision of students in undergraduate and/or postgraduate curriculum in psychology. • Evidence of teaching experience in research methods and health or social psychology. • Research aligned with or complementing current research strengths of the department. • Evidence of publishing in journals indexed in the Web of Science (ISI journals). • Experience in undertaking administrative and academic tasks associated with an academic position. Desirable Criteria Preference will be given to applicants who can: • Demonstrate good teamwork and administrative skills. • Consolidate and augment the teaching profile of the Department of Psychology with an ability to offer teaching in research methods, health psychology, and social psychology. • Conduct research and publish in high-quality academic peer-reviewed journals in health or social psychology. • Engage in collaborative research within the department and the faculty and university. • Demonstrate potential and plans to attract external national and international research funding to support research in psychology.
