Job Location: United Kingdom
Job Type: Tenure-Track
Contact Person: Chris Barry
Date Posted: May 16th, 2002
Closing Date: May 31st, 2002

As well as contacting Chris Barry, our head of department, any interested applicants whose research interests are mainly social psychological should feel free to make informal contact with any of the social psychologists at Kent; Dominic Abrams D.Abrams@ukc.ac.uk), Rupert Brown (rjb3@ukc.ac.uk), Emanuele Castano (e.castano@ukc.ac.uk), Roger Giner Sorolla (r.s.giner-sorolla@ukc.ac.uk), Diane Houston (d.m.houston@ukc.ac.uk), Adam Rutland (a.rutland@ukc.ac.uk) or Lorne Hulbert (lgh@ukc.ac.uk).

Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Forensic Psychology (associate professor)

Lecturer in Forensic Psychology (assistant professor)

Applications are invited for the above two posts. The Senior Lecturer/Lecturer will have an established record of research in one or more areas of Psychology, preferably with implications for forensic, legal or criminological issues, and the Lecturer will be developing a programme of research in forensic, legal or
criminological psychology. Ideally, the successful applicants will be Chartered Forensic Psychologists of the BPS (or will expect to seek chartered status shortly).

The Department achieved a Grade 4 in the 2001 RAE, and its Social Psychology group was "flagged" (which indicates that it merited a 5*). The Department has 19 teaching staff and has research strengths in social, cognitive, and health psychology, and also runs a highly successful graduate training programme in forensic psychology. It would be an advantage if candidates' research links naturally to any of these areas.

For both posts, the starting date is 1 September 2002, or as soon thereafter as possible.

Closing date for applications: Friday 31 May 2002

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 18 June 2002
