Dr. Michele Gelfand is seeking a full-time Faculty Specialist for the Culture Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. This position will start as early as July 1, 2020. It is a one-year position, but may be extended. This position will be a great fit for people looking to strengthen their research skills before applying to graduate school in social and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, sociology, computer science, or related fields.

The research associate will work closely with Dr. Gelfand and members of her lab on research projects related to cross-cultural psychology. The Faculty Specialist will be involved in all aspects of the research process, including conducting literature searches, helping design and implement studies, recruiting participants, scheduling and running studies, entering and analyzing data in R and SPSS, helping co-write manuscripts, presentations, and grants, helping manage undergraduate research assistants, among other research duties as they arise.

The position requires strong knowledge of statistics, R, and multilevel modeling, and experience analyzing big datasets (e.g., longitudinal surveys, cross-cultural analyses, analyses of twitter data, among others). They must also have experience with Qualtrics and Excel. Applicants must be extremely conscientious, self-motivated, and organized, and must be able to work independently and respond to/manage day-to-day email communication promptly and efficiently. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
