| Research Manager | | | | | | | Research Assistant/Coordinator - Social Psychology POSITION DESCRIPTION The position is for a Research Assistant (RA; 35 hours) on a grant examining social-media-based health promotion for men who have sex with men in U.S. counties. The RA’s responsibilities include management and coordination of all projects related to the grant. Responsibilities also include contacting health department officials, completing literature reviews, contributing to on-going research reports and presentations, assisting with writing, and other research tasks assigned by study personnel. The RA is expected to work with study personnel and health professionals to advance all scientific aims and goals of the study. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION BS or BA in Psychology or closely related field and 1-2 years’ research experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience with multidisciplinary research is preferred. RAs should be experienced with computer software, including word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, and Mendeley. Previous experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R). Previous experience with and/or social media analyses and Unix operating systems is a plus. JOB COMPETENCIES This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, statistical, and communication (verbal and written) skills as well as outstanding attention to detail, flexibility and ability to work well with an interdisciplinary team and with state and county agencies. RAs are expected to attend regular supervision meetings with the PI and study personnel. This position entails joining a multidisciplinary research team and conducting research with multiple methodologies, including but not limited to national surveys, lab experiments, social media analyses, and machine learning techniques. These skills will be invaluable to any candidate who wishes to pursue a career and/or advanced studies in a related field. Because of the nature of the position, the RA will be entrusted with a great deal of responsibility for facilitating the planned research in accordance with established scientific protocols, ethical standards, and NIH milestones.
