TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN PSYCHOSOCIAL OR BIOBEHAVIORAL ONCOLOGY. The Department of Behavioral Science in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking a new faculty member with research interests and expertise in psychosocial or biobehavioral oncology, broadly defined. The Department of Behavioral Science has a strong history of research and research training in psychosocial oncology and seeks to expand its research capacity in this area. The available faculty position is full-time and tenure track at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a funded, nationally-recognized research program focused within the field of psychosocial or biobehavioral oncology. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department and College. Teaching responsibilities center around instruction in the medical school curriculum, coursework at the graduate level, and research supervision at both the pre- and postdoctoral levels. Overall teaching load is fairly light allowing ample time for research development. Individuals with a background in any social or behavioral science (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology, nursing, public health, epidemiology, etc.) are encouraged to apply. A completed doctoral degree is required. Candidates should have previous research experience in the application of behavioral or social science methods and theory to understanding cancer prevention, detection, treatment, or rehabilitation. A biological research focus is not required. The candidate’s quality of research is more important than the particular research focus within the field of psychosocial or biobehavioral oncology. The Department of Behavioral Science is a multidisciplinary, basic science department within the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. The University of Kentucky is a Carnegie Class I research institution moving rapidly toward becoming one of the leading public research universities in the United States. The University is located in central Kentucky’s beautiful Bluegrass region, an area known for its high quality of life. Lexington is a growing metropolitan community of approximately 330,000 with excellent schools, diverse business and industry, excellent recreational opportunities, and a variety of cultural events. Information about the Department is available at www.mc.uky.edu/behavioralscience. Interested applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae, a letter of application outlining their research and teaching experience and interests, and three letters of recommendation to: Michael A. Andrykowski, Ph.D., Chair, Psychosocial/Biobehavioral Oncology Search, Department of Behavioral Science, University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, KY 40536-0086. Review of applications will begin in November and will continue until the position is filled. The University of Kentucky is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
