The School of Psychology at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, is advertising two continuing lectureships (equivalent to tenure-track assistant professor, in the United States) in social psychology - the formal advertisement is attached and pasted below. The UQ social psychology group is particularly well known for its research on group processes, intergroup relations, social identity and social cogniton. There is a very large and dynamic group of faculty, postdocs and graduate students involved in this area. The school is also strong in research on language and communication, and interpersonal relationships.

Lecturer in Social Psychology

The School of Psychology is seeking applications for two continuing Lecturer (Level B) positions in social psychology (equivalent to tenure track Assistant Professor in the United States). The School of Psychology is one of the largest and most prestigious schools of psychology in Australia. It is internationally recognised for research strengths across the breadth of psychology social psychology is one area of particular research strength.

In the role of Lecturer you will be expected to pursue a strong and productive program of research, and to supervise honours and postgraduate research theses in social psychology. You will also be expected to contribute to the teaching of social psychology in the undergraduate and honours programs. The social psychology teaching sequence offered by the School of Psychology covers all aspects of mainstream social psychology. Courses are also available in a range of aspects of applied social psychology. You should be able to contribute to one or both of these broad areas of teaching.

You should possess a PhD in psychology, have a clearly established research record in social psychology, and have excellent teaching skills. Applicants from all areas of social psychology will be considered for the positions however, a strong commitment to research is essential, as are an interest in and enthusiasm for teaching in social psychology.

There are two continuing, full-time appointments at Academic Level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $60,890 - $72,307 per annum, which includes a base salary range of $52,043 - $61,801 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.
