The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure track faculty to begin August 2013 to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in our curriculum such as General Psychology, Social Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Gender Roles, Special Topics in Psychology and courses the individual can propose to add to our curriculum. Mentoring students in career choice and research, advising and serving on departmental and university committees are expected. Ability to demonstrate success in obtaining funding for research agendas and/or projects aligning with the mission and strategic plan of Cal U and enhancing the program agendas of the college and academic department is desired.

RANK AND SALARY: This is a tenure-track faculty appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with academic preparation and experience. An excellent fringe benefits package is included.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT must be capable of and committed to effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities, continuing scholarly growth, and service contribution to the University and communities. Also, the successful applicant will have experience working with diverse populations.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES include involvement with departmental, college-wide, and university committees. Also, in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and APSCUF, the successful applicant might be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites, in the the evening/weekend college and/or provide instruction through online and/or other distance education methods.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Candidates should possess a doctorate in Social Psychology or closely related field in psychology with teaching and research experience in social psychology. We seek to have a teacher-scholar who can teach introductory level psychology courses and core courses in Psychology. We especially welcome application from individuals who address issues of ethnic diversity, the cultural bases of behavior, ethnic and racial identity, and diverse social groups in their teaching and research. In addition to the aforementioned requirements, in order to be a leading applicant in this search the applicant minimally must be fluent in the English language, be able to communicate well, demonstrate outstanding potential for excellence in teaching through a successful interview and/or classroom demonstration and be experienced in the use of innovative curricular approaches that are student-centered, inquiry-based, and hands-on oriented.

Minimum of Education / Training:
Ph.D. required, but applicants in the final stage of completing the terminal who will have earned the degree prior to the start date may apply.
