Kalamazoo College seeks a social psychologist for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 2013. Ph.D. (or evidence of imminent completion) required. The ideal candidate should have strong training in research methods and some applied interests (e.g., social stress/health, violence/conflict resolution, race/ethnic relations, gender/sexuality, social justice), as well as interest in undergraduate teaching, commitment to the liberal arts, and a desire to involve undergraduates in research. Teaching load is two undergraduate courses in each of three quarters. Research opportunities include college support, assistance in obtaining grant funding, and possible collaboration with faculty in biology, anthropology and sociology.

Kalamazoo College is a highly selective, nationally known liberal arts college. All psychology faculty are publishing, and the department ranks in the top 20 among 1500 colleges and universities in the proportion of graduates going on to earn Ph.D.s. The College emphasizes international education: 85% of graduates have studied abroad, and travel opportunities are available to faculty. In addition, nearly half of students study and serve in local community organizations each year. Midway between Chicago and Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo is a cosmopolitan community supporting four college and university campuses, and many civic, arts, and cultural associations.
