Chapman University seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Faculty of Psychology, Crean School of Health and Life Sciences, in the Schmid College of Science, beginning August 2013.

Qualifications

Ph.D. from an accredited program in psychology or related field; evidence of excellence in research and teaching; competence in quantitative methods of research, statistics/biostatistics, and research design. In addition to having strong skills in multivariate analyses, the ideal candidate should have expertise in applying one or more for the following techniques: structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear modeling, item response theory, non-linear approaches, bayesian statistics, or other advanced techniques. Specific area of disciplinary expertise is open, but should be related to solving problems in health sciences.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an active line of research with strong potential for extramural funding and with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and applications to health sciences. Teach primarily undergraduate courses including statistics/biostatistics, research design and courses in area of specialization using innovative and efficient ways of teaching (2 courses per semester). Candidates also will advise undergraduate students, supervise student research projects and collaborate with colleagues in health sciences.
