The Master of Science in Human Behavior (MHB) Program in the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern California Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, California, invites applications for a position as the Director of the program.

This is a full-time 12-month non-tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of the Practice, Associate Professor of the Practice, or Professor of the Practice or Assistant Professor (Teaching), Associate Professor (Teaching), or Professor (Teaching) with an initial 3-year term, to begin as soon as June 1, 2013, but no later than August 15, 2013.

This individual will be responsible for the direction of the residential MHB program, including recruitment, admissions, student advisement, thesis direction, faculty contracting, curriculum, course scheduling, internships, and external relations, as well as the development and direction of a new online MHB track, scheduled to launch in Fall 2013.

The MHB program is three years old, and the residential program currently enrolls 30 students per year. The program is designed for careers in private and public sectors where knowledge of the psychology of human behavior and change (e.g., social influence, group dynamics, consumer behavior, decision-making, organizational processes, and applied research skills) are relevant to effective job performance.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology or comparable terminal degree as well as additional experience in academic settings. We would expect that doctoral/postdoctoral training would most likely be in I/O psychology, social psychology, consumer psychology, or organizational psychology. The successful applicant will have professional experience with psychology in the business world and will have strong strategic planning, budgeting, and other administrative skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills will be essential to build a new team of internal staff and with a third-party online service provider, as well as constituent groups within the university and in the business world.

This position makes an important contribution to the academic community within the Department of Psychology and USC Dornsife and presents an opportunity for a dynamic leader to significantly expand an innovative program. A background in online higher education would be a plus. Salary and rank will be commensurate with level of experience.

To assure full consideration, applications must be received by November 16, 2012. Applications must include a letter of application, curriculum vita, a sampling of academic publications or other professional writing, and three current and original letters of reference (official placement files are acceptable).

Materials must be submitted electronically to: mhb_dir@dornsife.usc.edu. Inquires may be directed to: Dr. Margaret Gatz, Chair, Department of Psychology, Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, University of Southern California, 3620 South McClintock Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90089-1061, gatz@usc.edu. In order to be considered for this position, applicants are also required to submit an electronic USC application; follow this job link or paste in a browser:
