POSITION: Lecturer below the bar in Psychology
Contract Type: 5 year contract, Start: 01/08/2012, Finish: 31/07/2017
Salary scale: €41,498 - €51,722 p.a. (Less 10% and 1st point, for new entrants to the Public Sector)

QUALIFICATIONS: Primary degree in psychology. PhD is required.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The successful candidate is expected to:

• Teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Conduct research and publish in high quality academic peer reviewed journals.
• Attract external research funding to support research in psychology.
• Undertake administrative tasks associated with an academic position.

DESCRIPTION:

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must have:

• Undergraduate degree in psychology.
• PhD is required.
• Excellent research potential in terms of high quality publications in scientific journals and potential for securing research funding.
• A publication record appropriate to the stage of career and experience and skills in teaching in psychology.
• The ability to teach and supervise students in both the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum in psychology.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Preference may be given to applicants who:

• Can consolidate and augment the teaching, supervisory, and research profile of the Department of Psychology. That is, we especially welcome applications of candidates who can contribute to teaching and research in two or more of the following areas: clinical psychology, political psychology, attitudes and communication. Expertise in research methods (e.g., psychometrics, qualitative methods) would be beneficial.
• Can demonstrate good teamwork and administrative skills.
