 Professor/Reader in Behaviour and Innovation
Institution/Organization: Scottish Agricultural College
Job Location: United Kingdom
Contact Person: Jean Black
Date Posted: August 26th, 2011
Closing Date: September 16th, 2011
Web Site: http://www.sac.ac.uk/

The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) is one of Europe’s leading specialist institutions in science and technology – with 900 staff providing education and training, research and development, advice and consultancy services to the land-based industries via 3 operating Divisions – SAC Learning, SAC Research and SAC Consulting. Building on our strong track record of environmental, climate change, and agricultural research, we are further strengthening our capability for applied and policy-relevant research in these areas by appointing a Professor or Reader in Behaviour and Innovation.

The motivation for the post is the realisation that achievement of many agricultural and environmental policy goals requires an improved understanding of the attitudes, motivations and behaviours of land managers. The Professor/Reader in Behaviour and Innovation will therefore lead research of international quality and practical relevance in relation to such areas as environmental management (in particular related to carbon management) and technology diffusion in the agri-food context. The appointee will promote strong links with SAC consulting and provide a focal point for research on attitudes, behaviour and innovation currently being undertaken across SAC. This post, which will be closely linked to our newly formed Carbon Management Centre, will stimulate interdisciplinary working across and outwith SAC, build strong partnerships nationally and internationally, have strong internationally recognised publication and grant-winning track records and excellent communication skills. Funding is available to allow the successful candidate to appoint a researcher and PhD student to support their research. Salary will be in the professorial range (or at readership level for outstanding candidates not yet at professorial level).
