| Researcher: Sociolinguistics and Interaction | | | | | | | The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore's national agency for promoting world-class research in science and technology, seeks a research engineer with a research interest in human interaction and social behavior. The candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team whose vision it is to develop social interaction technologies that enable people to use their natural communication capabilities to operate robots and other autonomous devices. A particular focus of this research is to identify how people construct meaning in the context of an interaction, develop cognitive models, and operationalize them for interface design. The candidate should have expertise in one or more of the following fields: Sociolinguistics, interaction pragmatics, communicative action, or social coordination. The research is hosted by the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), a research institute within A*STAR that build on strong capabilities in computational modeling, simulation, and visualization technologies to solve challenging scientific and engineering problems.
