We very much would like to encourage applicants in the area of social psychology to apply for a new Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (open) position in the Department of Psychology at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.

In social psychology the Department of Psychology has a strong international reputation for excellence in theory and research that advances fundamental understandings of issues at the core of the field (e.g., the self-process, group identity and social norms, intergroup relations and social change dynamics, leadership and power, prejudice and prejudice reduction, categorization processes, risk and decision-making).

Also note that the Department of Psychology is advertising at the same time two positions in Clinical Psychology. The positions are all advertised at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer and are continuing. The salary range is $77,455 - $104,348 pa plus 17% superannuation (Australian dollars).

OPEN JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Psychology has a well established national and international reputation for teaching and research of high quality. The Department is now looking to undergo some level of expansion in order to enhance that reputation and to add further to its academic capability. There are several areas of research strength in the Department, and the successful applicant could fit into any one or other of those. But in order to attract the best possible applicant, none of these areas is being specifically targeted -- it is, rather, our objective to appoint an outstanding academic regardless of area, and to provide that person with the best possible teaching and research environment in order to work towards enhancement of the Department's scholarly profile and reputation. That being said, there is considerable scope for collaborative research activities, both within the Department and beyond to the wider ANU community.

The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the undergraduate program in the Department, to supervise honours and postgraduate students, and to pursue a program of research that is creative, original and of high quality in his or her particular area of interest.
