Closing Date: 27 February 2009

This new full-time post is available on a permanent basis.

As part of its Science Strategy, the University of Exeter is investing £80 million in science, medicine, and engineering over the next three years in order to compete with the UK’s top universities, and achieve its ambitions to be in the top ranking universities in the country. This post is part of the Science Strategy’s Climate Change & Sustainable Futures (CCSF) theme, which will provide a suite of new appointments and postgraduate studentships in the climate change and sustainability area. This funding builds on Exeter's world-leading research in climate prediction, adaptation, and mitigation, and its close liaison with the Met Office Hadley Centre.

We are particularly interested in recruiting a researcher with a strong track-record of research and publication on applying social psychological theory to understanding individual beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours in response to climate change and related environmental issues. We especially encourage applications from researchers who adopt an interdisciplinary approach and who will contribute actively to the CCSF theme by engaging with colleagues from across the University, with the Met Office Hadley Centre and with other relevant external organizations.

The University offers an exceptional range of employee benefits and facilities including final salary pension scheme.
