The Department of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor or beginning Associate Professor level in social psychology to start July 1, 2009. Candidates should have firm grounding in social psychology and investigate ways that social group memberships such as race, ethnicity, culture, region, gender, or socio-economic status impact the ways people think, feel, and relate to others. We are especially interested in applicants who study culture and diversity, including (but not limited to): (a) differences in cognition and emotion across cultures or social groups; (b) manifestations of racial bias in mind, brain, and behavior; (c) cognitive, affective, and physiological consequences of coping with stigma; and (d) social, cultural, or interpersonal functions of emotion.
