The Psychology Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position specializing in the social psychology of institutions. We are seeking scholars with expertise in the analysis of institutional settings or public sites where questions of fairness, the distribution of resources, and the application of social control are contested and negotiated. Possible areas of expertise include (but are not limited to) examining the health care system as an agency or environment; the welfare system as an institution or set of institutions; agencies or programs within the juvenile justice system; traditional and/or alternative forms and forums of dispute resolution (including courts, mediation, and restorative justice programs); and community-based organizations or agencies that are structured around justice-oriented interventions.

In addition to teaching courses on the psychology of social institutions, possible areas of teaching expertise/interest include topics in social psychology, social justice, statistics, and qualitative or quantitative methodology. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their research, teaching, and service.
