Applications are invited for a position as Research Assistant, working on psychological studies involving the newly established Immersive Vision Theatre at the University of Plymouth. The goal of the work is to develop a theoretical understanding of visual perception and socially shared space in an immersive dome environment.

This project is a joint initiative of:

• the CETL in Experiential Learning in the Environmental and Natural Sciences (http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/cetl/el),

• the Embodied Cognition and Emotion Laboratory in the School of Psychology (http://www.psy.plymouth.ac.uk/research/ece/).

• the Institute of Digital Art and Technology in the School of Computing, Faculty of Technology (http://www.i-dat.org)

The position will be based on the University’s main campus in Plymouth, in the Embodied Cognition and Emotion Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Simone Schnall.

Responsibilities include literature review, design and preparation of experimental materials, recruitment of participants, and data collection. You will have a good Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Psychology or Cognitive Science and a good background knowledge of cognitive and social psychology. You will be self-motivated, proactive, conscientious and well-organised. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

This position will start as soon as possible and is initially for a fixed term period of 6 months, with the potential for a subsequent extension of the contract. The following website has details on the position and the application process:
