A NIDA/DoE funded Research Associate II position is currently available to aid Dr. Matthew Shane's fMRI-based projects focused on the neurocognitive and neuroaffective abnormalities underlying antisocial behavior and substance-abuse. Primary responsibilities will include clinical assessment of forensic populations via face-to-face interviews, management and assessment of experimental data, and authoring of scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants must have a BA in psychology, neuroscience or a related field (MA or PhD certainly accepted, with salary commensurate with experience), and possess a strong interest, and preferably experience, in conducting forensic/substance abuse and/or neuroimaging research. Training in all clinical assessments will be provided; however, applicants must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and written skills. Previous success publishing scientific material at either the undergraduate or graduate level is advantageous, but not required. This is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated graduates seeking admission to graduate programs; applicants should anticipate learning a wide variety of clinical and neuroimaging skills, and being able to include one, two or more published manuscripts on their resume when they leave this position.

Job Duties:

--Assist in the collection of clinical, behavioral, genetic and neuropsychological data. Liaise with various collaborators regarding the collection and interpretation of data.
--Manage the daily activities of designated experiments, including the recruitment of participants, procurement of space, supplies and related equipment
--Assist in the analysis of the collected data (training provided)
--Assist in the authoring of papers for publication, presentations and conferences
--Perform library research on specified topics, including researching current literature for methods and trends and subsequent evaluation of those methods.
--Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse, forensic, population
--Experience with statistical packages such as SPSS or SPM advantageous, but not required

Education:

Bachelor Degree required, and 2 years research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master's or Doctorate certainly accepted, with salary commensurate with experience.
