POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, DRUG ABUSE RESEARCH

The University of Rhode Island announces the availability of a postdoctoral research position working on federally funded randomized clinical trials in an internationally recognized center of behavior change, the Social Sciences Research Center. Opportunities available for training in treatment-outcome research, including measures development. Current opening focuses on delineating behavioral processes central to understanding and effectively treating substance abuse, risky behaviors associated with substance use (such as drug dealing and risky sex), and in reducing cigarette smoking.

Applicants must have earned research doctorate in psychology, public health, or a related behavioral science required by time of appointment; experience with clinical treatments and diagnostic assessments required; demonstrated evidence to develop a record of professional publications and ability to present at professional meetings; experience working with the juvenile justice system and data analysis preferred; interest in presenting at professional meetings, and participating in grant-writing preferred. Applicants must pass background check and be U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Postdoctoral fellow will receive training in Motivational Interviewing and other behavioral interventions, deliver them individually and in group format, provide regular individual and group clinical treatment and assessment; code for treatment integrity and group treatment dynamics; develop a record of scholarly publications and presentations, have grant-writing opportunities and receive hours for licensure.
