The University of Central Florida seeks to fill two LECTURER positions on the Cocoa and Heathrow Regional Campuses. These are nine-month, nontenured, renewable positions.

UCF, with its hub in Orlando, is a dynamic and growing research and teaching-oriented metropolitan and regional institution with more than 46,000 students. The department is the largest in the College of Sciences with 45 full-time faculty members, over 2700 undergraduate majors. There are also Ph. D. programs in Clinical, Human Factors/Applied Experimental, and Industrial/Organizational Programs located on the Orlando campus, a Masters program in I/O Psychology on the Heathrow campus, and a Masters program in Clinical on the Daytona campus. The Orlando campus of UCF is located near downtown Orlando on a 1200-acre campus within one hour of the Atlantic Ocean, Kennedy Space Center, Disney World complex and other entertainment and cultural attractions. There are also 11 regional campuses most of which are located within an hour of the Orlando campus. Within the university and locally, there are numerous opportunities for collaboration with other academic departments, UCF institutes and centers of excellence, mental health organizations, government research agencies, entertainment centers, and the aerospace industry.

Lecturer – Cocoa Campus. The principal duties will be to provide undergraduate instruction in core preparation areas (e.g. Research Methods, Statistics, Basic Learning, Perception, Cognitive Psychology, and Physiological Psychology) and also in the areas of restricted (e.g. Social Psychology) and diversity electives (e.g. Cross-Cultural Psychology, Psychology of Women). Other duties include supervising directed research and independent study, counseling on career options, and working with the Orlando and Regional Campuses administration in the development of the undergraduate Psychology program. Applicants must possess a Ph. D. Degree in Psychology from an accredited university at the time of the start date. Candidates from all areas of specialization within Psychology will be considered. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Lecturer – Heathrow Campus. We are seeking candidates for a Lecturer to support our master’s level program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. The major job duties will include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in I/O psychology, supervising graduate students’ theses, and supporting the research efforts of the department through individual or collaborative efforts. In addition to supporting the I/O masters program, candidates are expected to support the Undergraduate Psychology program by providing undergraduate instruction, supervising directed research and independent study, counseling on career options, and working with the Orlando and Regional Campuses administration in the development of the undergraduate Psychology program. The I/O master’s program is based at a UCF instructional site in Seminole County approximately 25 miles north of the Orlando campus. The site is located in the Heathrow business complex, situated in the heart of the Florida High Technology Corridor along Interstate-4, and therefore provides excellent opportunities for internships and other opportunities for collaboration within a robust business community. Applicants must possess a Ph. D. Degree in Psychology from an accredited university at the time of the start date. Candidates from all areas of specialization within Psychology will be considered. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Consideration of applications for both of these positions will begin immediately, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Send application materials to the address below postmarked no later than May 23, 2008. Applicants should indicate whether they wish to be considered for the Heathrow position, the Cocoa position, or both. Please visit UCF’s website at http://www.ucf.edu for additional information about the university and its programs.
