The School of Psychology at the University of Sydney invites applications for a continuing appointment in the area of social psychology. The School was the first established Psychology department in Australia and has a proud tradition of excellence that characterizes all of its research and educational activities. Recent retirements, sustained increases in research funding and strong enrollments have facilitated a rapid growth in our staffing and research profile. The School's accommodation has also been enhanced by recent refurbishment and expansion of its research facilities. These developments provide successful applicants with the opportunity to join a vibrant and well-equipped department with a strong research focus. For more information about the school, please visit:

http://www.psych.usyd.edu.au/

The successful applicant will contribute to teaching social psychology at the undergraduate, Honours and postgraduate level and to research supervision. They will be expected to maintain an active research program in social psychology and apply for external funding. Applications are invited from all areas of social psychology, however preference may be given to applicants with an experimental research focus.

The essential criteria for appointment as a Lecturer (Level B, equivalent to an assistant professor position) include a PhD in psychology; a significant record of research achievement in social psychology; demonstrated capacity for high quality teaching and research supervision; excellent organizational and communication skills; and evidence of ability to work as a team member.

Appointment as a Senior Lecturer (Level C) will, in addition to the above criteria, require evidence of successful applications for external research funding, effective teaching in social psychology and successful postgraduate research supervision.

Level of appointment and responsibility will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The position is full-time continuing subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of appointment for new appointees.

All applications must be completed online (http://positions.usyd.edu.au/jobtools/jncustomsearch.searchAction). The selection criteria can be viewed by opening attached position files. Applicants should submit a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and a copy of their CV including a list of publications. Attach these documents to your online application by clicking attach files (next to resume in step 2).
