JVA Consulting, LLC, is a leading research and consulting firm specializing in social change work in the intermountain U.S. West.

Our clients include organizations focused on changing the world, including foundations, school districts, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, socially responsible companies, and other social innovators. Working with social innovators to pioneer new ways to make the world a better place, our services currently include market research and community needs assessments; strategic and business planning; resource development and fundraising assistance; training and management consulting; board development; and research and program evaluation.

JVA’s research and program evaluation work focuses in four areas:

• Conducting studies of nonprofit capacity-building
• Conducting studies of education, health and human service programs
• Building the capacity of nonprofit organizations to measure their own outcomes
• Developing community needs assessments and conducting market research

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, achievement-oriented, self-motivated individual to join JVA in conducting this work. The successful candidate will:

• Conduct literature reviews
• Write article abstracts and annotated bibliographies
• Develop logic models and evaluation plans
• Develop research and/or evaluation questions
• Collect data: public and private records, individual interviews, youth assessment, focus groups, surveys
• Perform community needs assessments
• Conduct demography and Census research
• Conduct market research
• Build and maintain databases in Excel, SPSS, and Access
• Prepare and maintain data files with coherent, consistent naming conventions
• Clean and verify data to ensure integrity
• Acquire, manipulate, develop, and maintain longitudinal and large data sets, verifying accuracy and consistency over time
• Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Survey/measurement tool development
• Prepare interim or draft reports
• Prepare final reports and briefs
• Prepare news-briefs, white papers, and abstracts
• Manage client relationships
• Manage multiple small to medium sized projects
• Conduct evaluation trainings
• Create PowerPoint presentations
• Present final reports to various audiences
• Contribute to the sustainability of the division and organization
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Masters degree in social science plus a minimum of three years experience in research and program evaluation
• Knowledge of research and evaluation design, methodology, and analysis
• Experience and proficiency in SPSS, Excel, and Word
• Strong communication skills – both oral and written
• A quick thinker and learner; ability to grasp key information from conversations and meetings
• Demonstrated ability to effectively connect with, and work with, a wide range of individuals
• Ability to problem solve and handle challenging situations
• Ability to work equally well independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail, organized, and critical thinking skills
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to travel
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish)

Travel: Project work requires occasional travel

Salary/Benefits: Starting base salary of $44,000-48,000 based upon skills and experience, plus incentive compensation program. Benefits include: four weeks paid time off, paid holidays, flexible spending account, 401K retirement plan with employer match, health and dental.
