Working as a vocal entertainer/recording artist for many years gave me the vision to merge my talents and create purposeful events serving women 40+ on health and emotional wellness. During the 80’s - 90's, I was widely considered one of the most powerful vocalist's in Massachusetts. In 1983, 3C Records, released a billboard charting single, Fantasize, which is still in demand by deejays around the world today. I also ventured into theater and ultimately radio where I honed my skills as a community advocate, and learned to appreciate the value of my audience and my deeper purpose. Founder of Destination Radio, broadcast from Springfield Community College 91.9, WTCC with Sonya Barber, I learned specifically who to target as guests from local listeners who shared their challenges and/or life achievements. I also used this platform to educate and encourage other listeners who didn’t come on the air to find unique ways to take action in their own lives.

In 2002, I collaborated with Patriennah Acoste-Pelle of Noelle Elaine Media, Inc., consultant for Black Enterprise and began a business dialogue that took the Pioneer Valley by storm. The New Age Black Business Zone, a business etiquette series for Black Business Owners was born. A feature to my Destination Radio series of empowerment messages, I interviewed contributing writers, CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies and celebrity guests who shared their rags to riches stories as well as business and financial discussions and other significant and relevant issues America faced every day. I started my first small side business at the suggestion of an ‘In the Spirit’ article by Susan L. Taylor, former Editor of Essence Magazine, and created small seminars and workshops. This action lead to a full three-day conference, Celebrating Ourselves: Soul, Mind & Body focused on healing and raising our consciousness.

Inundated with calls to speak throughout the Eastern Region I presented The Body Beautiful to four sold out audiences at the American Cancer Society’s Day of Health and Beauty, my self-created seminar. Fun and informative, I encouraged participants to take action by strengthening their health through commitment rather than compliance. I used skits, music, statistics, and invited audience participation. Some of my former clients included:  American Cancer Society, Massachusetts Career Development Institute, Professional Women’s Group, Dress for Success Program, City of Springfield AHEC/Reach Program, Somers Correctional Facility, Advantics Incorporated, Chamber of Commerce Reaching Goals, United States Air Force, Calhoun Street Mentor Program, NAACP to name a few. Community is important to me and I truly believe that when we are fully minding our business, life gives us everything we need.

“My philosophy is simple: appreciate the value of your life and purpose, then walk gently on the earth.”

Description

A Health Coach is a wellness authority and supportive mentor who helps clients shift their behavior toward healthier habits. Preventative care is the future, and health coaching fills a void in our current health cared paradigm. ~Integrative Nutrition - Medical doctors do not study nutrition during their college or intern years, which is why I think we have a health crisis today. Nearly 30% of the world's population is obese or overweight. Each year, 70% of deaths are caused by chronic illness. Additionally, only 3% of our healthcare dollars are spent on preventing diseases. This is the major reason I feel compelled to act now and focus on becoming a part of this health crisis by talking to black women, 30+ to take better care of their health by Minding Their Business.
