Psychology Organizations and Conferences

     This page contains links to a variety of psychology organizations. If you are a student, you might consider joining some of these organizations as a way of building your résumé and learning more about topics of interest. Many groups will offer a discounted membership to you as a "student affiliate," and in most cases you'll begin receiving psychology journals, newsletters, conference materials, and other mailings.

Asian Association of Social Psychology Has roughly 400 members and publishes the Asian Journal of Social Psychology. The next AASP Biennial Conference will be held in Seoul, Korea, on July 29-31 of 2021. Membership Information
Association for Psychological Science Has over 25,000 members and is the largest general psychology organization focusing mainly on research. The next APS Convention will be held in Washington, DC, on May 27-30 of 2021. Membership Information
Association for Psychological Science Student Caucus A national student network with more than 4,000 members and 50 chapters (also offers a student Mentorship Program). Membership Information
Association for Research in Personality Has over 400 members and publishes the Journal of Research in Personality. The next biennial ARP Conference will be held in Evanston, Illinois, on July 22-24 of 2021. Membership Information
Association of Black Psychologists Has more than 1,400 members and is devoted to advancing the profession of Black Psychology, promoting social change, and assisting Black communities and other ethnic groups. Membership Information
British Psychological Society Social Psychology Section An educational and professional organization founded in 1953. The most recent BPS Social Psychology Annual Conference was held in York, England, on August 28-30 of 2019. Membership Information
Canadian Psychological Association Social and Personality Section Has roughly 85 social and personality psychologists and maintains an electronic discussion list that members can join. Membership Information
European Association of Social Psychology Has more than 1,000 members and convenes a General Meeting every three years. The next General Meeting will be held in Krakow, Poland in 2021. Membership Information
Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences A coalition dedicated to science advocacy, education, and communication. Members include the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Membership Information
Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy Division 49 of the American Psychological Association. Has roughly 1,000 members and is open to both APA and non-APA members. Membership Information
International Association of Applied Psychology Has more than 2,000 members in more than 90 countries. The next International Congress of Applied Psychology will be held in Beijing, China, on July 24-29 of 2022. Membership Information
International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Has more than 800 members in 65 countries. The next International Congress of IACCP will be held in Olomouc, Czech Republic, on July 24-29 of 2021. Membership Information

International Society for Self and Identity Has more than 600 members from five continents. ISSI hosts preconferences on Self and Identity at the annual meetings of SPSP and EASP. Membership Information

Society for Community Research and Action An an international organization devoted to advancing theory, research, and social action. The next SCRA Biennial Conference will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 16-19 of 2021. Membership Information
Society for General Psychology Founded in 1945 as the first division of the American Psychological Association. Promotes unity and coherence across psychology subdisciplines and publishes Review of General Psychology. Membership Information
Society for Judgment and Decision Making An interdisciplinary organization focusing on many different aspects of judgment and decision making. The next annual SJDM Meeting will be held online, on December 9-12 of 2020. Membership Information
Society for Personality and Social Psychology Has more than 5,000 members and publishes PSPB and PSPR. The next annual SPSP Conference will be held online, in February 2021. Membership Information
Society for Social Neuroscience Has over 1,300 members from more than 40 countries on 6 continents. The next annual S4SN Meeting will be held in Austin, Texas, on December 10-12 of 2020. Membership is free. Membership Information
Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues Has over 1,000 members. Publishes a peer-reviewed official quarterly journal, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and an online blog-style newsletter. Membership Information
Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues Has over 2,500 members and focuses on topics of societal concern. The most recent SPSSI Conference was held in San Diego, California, on June 21-23 of 2019. Membership Information
