Milgram at 50: Time for a Rethink?
Posted by: David Aronson
Title/Position: Communications Director
School/Organization: Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues
Sent to listserv of: SESP, SPSSI
Date posted: September 9th, 2014

On the 50th anniversary of Milgram’s famous experiments on obedience, new research in social psychology suggests we may have been misinterpreting the results all along. It wasn’t the men in white lab coats that Milgram’s hapless subjects were obeying, but rather, their own inclination to participate in a worthwhile scientific endeavor.

Attached below please find a press release/summary of the just-published research in the Journal of Social Issues, with web links to the full articles.
