The Program Committee of the Society for the Study of Motivation (SSM) invites you to attend the Society's 5th Annual Meeting, which will be held in affiliation with the 24th Annual Convention of the Association for Psychological Science (APS). The SSM conference will take place May 24, 2012, immediately prior to the APS convention. Both the SSM conference and the APS convention will be located in the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Chicago, IL.

The SSM meeting program will include an invited address by John T. Cacioppo (University of Chicago), six symposia, a poster session, and the annual SSM members meeting.

**Symposium sessions will address:

(1) New frontiers in understanding the effects of exclusion, ostracism and isolation [chair: Eric D. Wesselmann (Purdue University)]

(2) Interactions of motivation and emotion: How emotions and affect impact and reflect motivation [co-chairs: Julia Vogt (Ghent University) & Ayelet Fishbach (University of Chicago)]

(3) Current perspectives on ego depletion and self-regulation [co-chairs: Roy F. Baumeister (Florida State University) & Daniel C. Molden (Northwestern University)]

(4) Motivation as a basic personality process [co-chairs: Luke D. Smillie (University of Melbourne) & Joshua Wilt (Northwestern University)]

(5) How cognitive is cognitive control? Motivational foundations of executive functions [co-chairs: Guido H.E. Gendolla (University of Geneva) & Sander L. Koole (University of Amsterdam)]

(6) The self in self-regulation: How self and identity actively mediate motivation [chair: Alysson E. Light (University of Chicago)]

**John T. Cacioppo's address will be entitled "Social Isolation"

The Society for the Study of Motivation (SSM) is an international, interdisciplinary society of motivation researchers.
