TWO POSITIONS at the UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS -- SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY and QUANTITATIVE PSYCHOLOGY. The Department of Psychology invites applications for two tenure-track appointments for the 2005/2006 academic year, at the assistant professor level. For the position in SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY, we seek a promising scientist in the area of EMOTION AND MOTIVATION, broadly construed. To qualify, candidates should have the ability to teach a range of courses in social psychology at the graduate and undergraduate levels; ability to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students; and should have promise of carrying out a high-quality program of research in social psychology, specifically within the area of emotion and motivation. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work would complement existing Social Program strengths, which include cultural psychology, intergroup relations, prejudice and stereotyping, prosocial emotion and motivation, psychology and the law, and social development. Contribution to the growing departmental interest in affective neuroscience is also desirable but not required. Questions concerning this position may be addressed to dbatson@ku.edu. For the position in QUANTITATIVE PSYCHOLOGY, candidates should have a Ph.D. in psychology or related field with a specialization in quantitative methods. Required qualifications include the potential for high quality research and teaching in the area of quantitative methods and in a substantive area that complements those of existing faculty in the department (for more information go to: www.psych.ku.edu). Questions concerning this position may be addressed to yhat@ku.edu. For both positions, candidates should have a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field by August 18, 2005. Review of materials will begin on November 1, 2004, and will continue until the positions are filled. Although applications received after this date will be considered, candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their materials by this time. Send curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching experience and interests, evidence of teaching ability, three letters of reference, and representative reprints/preprints to Recruiting Coordinator (specify Social or Quantitative Psychology), Department of Psychology, 1415 Jayhawk Blvd, 426 Fraser Hall, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas 66045-7556. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply. KU is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. In addition to federal and state prohibitions against discrimination, university polices also prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, marital status, and parental status. Position to begin August 18, 2005, and is contingent on final budgetary approval.
