 Postdoctoral Researcher
Institution/Organization: University of Hawaii at Manoa
Job Location: Hawaii, U.S.A.
Job Type: Postdoctoral
Contact Person: Kristin Pauker
Date Posted: May 22nd, 2012
Web Site: http://www2.hawaii.edu/~kpauker

We are looking to hire a talented researcher with a background in social perception or intergroup relations who is seeking more training as a postdoctoral scholar. The successful candidate will be an integral part of Kristin Pauker's (Program Director) new lab at the University of Hawaii, heading up data collection on an NIH funded grant on the development and transmission of interracial anxiety in children, while continuing to develop their own research program. More information on the lab and its research can be found at:

http://www2.hawaii.edu/~kpauker

The position is optimal for someone with an expertise in intergroup relations who is interested in integrating research across social and developmental psychology, but those with interests in person perception, social categorization, or lay theories about race/race essentialism are also encouraged to apply. Experience conducting research with children is ideal, but not required. The position is funded for a year and a half and may be renewable for additional time, pending funding.

Applicants should submit their CV, a statement of their research interests, and contact info for 3 referees to kpauker@hawaii.edu. The position will begin in January 2013 (earlier or later start-date negotiable). The timing is ideal for new Ph.D.s in social psychology who either have the flexibility to extend their graduate training through the Fall semester or want a little bit of extra time to complete their graduate training. The possibility of starting in August 2012 is negotiable. Review of applications will begin June 15, 2012 and will continue until the position is filled.
