| (Project) Assistant II | | | | | Institution/Organization: | University of California, San Francisco and SFGH | Job Location: | California, U.S.A. | Contact Person: | Anne Park | Date Posted: | February 12th, 2001 | | | | | | | | UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN FRANCISCO Job Listings B15412C (PROJECT) ASSISTANT II LPPI/PSYCHIATRY- SUBASTANCE ABUSE RESEARCH DESCRIPTION Incumbent will function as an integral member of the research staff of studies to improve treatment outcomes for drug use and medical care among HIV-infected injection drug users: recruit and screen patients at San Francisco General Hospital in studies of HIV+ patients in methadone treatment; schedule and administer structured interviews; enter interview data into the computer; track and locate patients in the community; collect client biofluids; conduct drug and alcohol testing; purchase, distribute and track participant incentives; administrative duties such as keeping records of laboratory reports and subject payments; assist with other studies and projects; attend team meetings; and perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS High school graduation or GED and three years of related administrative and clerical experience, two years of related experience as research assistant or project coordinator, or in equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working with or knowledge of substance abusing populations; knowledge of research design and the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team; ability to deal effectively with HIV+ injection drug users in a structured clinical research setting; knowledge of Windows-supported word processing and database programs; excellent organizational abilities, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail; meticulousness in performance of assigned tasks; ability to set priorities and to work under minimal supervision. PREFERRED SKILLS Bachelor's degree or higher degree in the behavioral or social sciences; background and familiarity with behavioral treatments; previous related experience on a similar research project or working with HIV-affected, and/or indigent populations; proven ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals; possession of own vehicle for transportation to field interviews and client tracking activities.
