The Department of Psychology of Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2011, pending budgetary funding.

We solicit applicants from any area of psychology or related disciplines whose research addresses Social, Personality, or Emotional phenomena involving one or more of the following: (1) physical health, including but not limited to health-related behaviors such as eating, exercise, and chronic disease management, or biological factors such as genetic, neuroendocrine, cardiovascular, and immune/inflammatory processes; (2) genetic, neural, or other biological processes that underlie social, personality, and emotional phenomena; and/or (3) prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination. Individuals with strong quantitative skills are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate could benefit from links to Rutgers units in Genetics, Medical Sociology, Exercise Science, Food Science, Communication, the Center for Race and Ethnicity, and the multidisciplinary Health Institute. The Health Institute, whose new Clinical Research Laboratory has just been completed, provides access to a network of collaborating institutions including the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine, the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the East Orange Veterans Administration, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The successful candidate must have a PhD, will be expected to develop and maintain active, extramurally-funded research programs, and will participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Our focus is on junior faculty, but outstanding candidates at all ranks will be considered. Salary, start-up funds, and other considerations will be consistent with Rutgers' commitment to recruit and retain exceptional individuals.
