The Department of Psychology at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure track position in Clinical, Health, or Social Psychology at the Assistant or Associate rank. Exceptional candidates can be considered at the Full Professor level. A strong research program is essential. The individual hired must have a Ph.D. degree and an active program of research that can enlist undergraduate and graduate students. Postdoctoral research experience is a plus. The potential to obtain external funding is necessary for junior rank and a history of such funding required for more senior candidates.

We are particularly interested in psychologists who conduct applied work relevant to urban, ethnically diverse populations as well as those with research interests that are synergistic with existing faculty research areas (e.g., emotion regulation, HIV/AIDS, depression and related disorders, suicide, social cognition and decision-making about risk, substance abuse, health disparities, and sexuality). More information about the department can be found at:

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas related to the candidate’s scholarly and research interests, advising students and supervising graduate and undergraduate student research. An appointment to the CUNY doctoral faculty is possible and credentials appropriate for that appointment are desirable.

Salary is commensurate with experience and will be determined by the CUNY salary structure. To apply please submit a cover letter describing research and teaching interests, a curriculum vitae and 2-3 representative publications to Jeffrey T. Parsons, Ph.D. Department of Psychology, Hunter College, 695 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10065. Candidates should provide the names, postal and email addresses for three individuals familiar with their work who can be contacted for recommendations. Review of completed applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Hunter College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action/ADA/IRCA employer. Women and members of underrepresented minorities are particularly encouraged to apply.
