Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Department of Psychology invites applications for four tenure-track positions, Assistant Professor level, beginning August, 2008. SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY: Applicants must have a doctorate in social psychology. Area of specialization is open but teaching duties will include undergraduate Social Psychology; graduate teaching is also possible. CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY: Applicants must have a doctorate in clinical psychology and be license eligible in Pennsylvania. Area of specialization is open but teaching duties will include graduate level assessment courses. RESEARCH METHODS: Area of specialization is open but applicants must have a doctorate in psychology. Teaching duties will include undergraduate courses in research design and analysis. OPEN SPECIALTY: Area of specialization is open but applicants must have a doctorate in psychology. Teaching duties will include undergraduate and graduate courses in the history of psychology. In all cases, fit with departmental needs will be considered. Teaching assignments beyond those specified will depend on applicant’s area of expertise; the department has special interest in individuals who can teach multicultural or diversity courses.

For all positions, a commitment to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate education and research is essential. Prior teaching experience is desirable. Individual initiatives in any form of scholarly activity, including grant writing, are encouraged. The current department of 21 offers an APA-accredited Psy. D. in clinical psychology, which follows a practitioner model of training with a strong commitment to science-based education. Approximately 12-15 graduate students are accepted annually. The department also houses the Center for Applied Psychology, a clinical services facility, which provides opportunities for clinical training and research in adult, child and family therapy, psychological assessment, and behavioral medicine. On the undergraduate level, the department offers an arts and sciences degree with elective options of practicum experience and an honors program. There are approximately 425 undergraduate majors. IUP has an enrollment of approximately 14,000 and is located approximately 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Applications should be received by Dec. 15, 2007, for full consideration; however, review of applications will continue until the positions are filled. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview(s), which may include a teaching demonstration. A research-based colloquium is required; the colloquium will be used to assess communication skills and research and teaching competence. All applicants must be work-eligible.
