The Psychology Department at the University of Connecticut in Storrs invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Psychology. We encourage applications from candidates whose research expertise is in any core area of social psychology and especially those whose expertise would complement the strengths of the social division. The social psychology division has strong ties with several interdisciplinary institutes and programs at UConn, including the Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention (CHIP) and African-American Studies. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree conferred by August 23, 2008. Applicants’ ability to contribute to the department’s growing interdivisional emphases in neuropsychology, cognitive science, developmental psychopathology, behavioral health, and/or quantitative methods is desirable. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate the existence of (or the promise of developing) a vibrant research program in their area of expertise, a track record (or promise) of obtaining external research support, and a commitment to excellence in the teaching of undergraduates and graduate students.

The Department currently has 50 full-time faculty and 150 doctoral students, and offers Ph.D.s in the areas of Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical, Developmental, Experimental, I/O, and Social Psychology. Interdivisional collaborations are strongly encouraged, as evidenced by our graduate certificate programs in Quantitative Research Methods, Occupational Health Psychology, and Health Psychology, and by our interdivisional programs in neuropsychology, cognitive science, and developmental psychopathology. The Department has an exceptional record of external grant support (ranked #3 nationally for FY05 research expenditures) and scholarly productivity, and enjoys the reputation as one of UConn’s outstanding departments.
