Naropa University seeks applications for Core Candidate Assistant or Associate Professor for an appointment to the BA Psychology undergraduate residential and online program. We seek candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas of psychology: Contemplative, Cross-Cultural, Depth, Humanistic-Existential, Organizational, Somatic, Transpersonal. However, we are open to candidates with expertise in other areas not listed.

The successful candidate will have a strong background and/or commitment to contemplative education, a capacity for transformative teaching at the undergraduate level, and demonstrated experience, understanding, and leadership abilities with respect to cultural competence and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Our preferred candidate may also have successful teaching experience in residential, hybrid, and online learning environments, an interest in mentoring student research, and an emergent program of research.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach a full-time load each year (minimum of 20 credits per year or equivalent combination of teaching and other duties).
• Serve as a mentor to students in the program.
• Maintain a program of research that can involve students.
• Engage in continuing professional development in contemplative practice, diversity, and sustainability awareness.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in the life and activities of the University faculty.
• Participate in program evaluation, assessment and curriculum design.
• Participate in admissions, recruitment, and marketing efforts.

What Naropa Requires…

• PhD or ABD in Psychology or related interdisciplinary field.
• Emergent program of research and the capacity to mentor undergraduates in research.
• Demonstrated commitment to contemplative or transformative learning pedagogies.
• Demonstrated experience, understanding, and leadership abilities with respect to cultural competence and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
• All job candidates must hold a commitment to co-create a diverse and inclusive community and actively participate in related JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) professional development regarding the dynamics of privilege and oppression and the impact these have in the workplace.
• All job candidates must demonstrate their level of understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity.
• All job candidates must demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding of and appreciation for the values of Naropa University and the capacity to demonstrate an integration and embodiment of these values as evidenced in work, communication, collaboration styles, and other general workplace behaviors.

Qualifications Naropa Would Prefer in Candidates for this Position

• Undergraduate teaching experience in residential, hybrid, or online delivery modalities.
• Experience with undergraduate curriculum development.
• Capacity to engage nationally in one’s area of expertise.
