The Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer position in Psychology. Applications are especially encouraged from individuals with teaching experience related to the psychology of race, ethnicity, and/or other forms of social identity, critical consciousness, and/or research methods. This position is outside of the tenure stream, would begin in the Fall or Spring of the 2021-2022 calendar year (September 1, 2021-April 30, 2022), and the initial appointment is up to two years. Subsequent renewals or appointment as a Lecturer I in Psychology may be possible. The successful candidate will join a department with a talented cadre of teaching-focused faculty who provide department-wide teaching mentorship, and a highly active Psychology, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (PEIC) that serves as a catalyst and innovation engine to advance the department’s goal of inclusive excellence.

Qualified candidates will possess a PhD in Psychology (preferred) or an MS in Psychology (or equivalent). The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate course sections (or equivalent) per academic year, which may include mid- or upper-level courses in their areas of interest and/or research methods. Teaching assignments typically involve multiple sections of the same course so that the number of course preparations is reduced.

For full consideration, please upload a curriculum vitae; a teaching statement describing your teaching philosophy, experience, and interests; and a personal statement describing your understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues, and the ways they bring this understanding into your teaching or other activities. Other documents and names of referees may be requested at a later date. Applicants can apply on the University of Pittsburgh Talent Center: Job Description - Faculty.Lecturer.Visiting (21003465) (

Review of applications will begin June 1 and continue until the position is filled. The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is committed to building and fostering a culturally diverse environment. In addition to evidence of high quality teaching, excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in support of a diverse community are required.

The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity and diversity. EOE, including disability/vets.
