The Department of Psychology at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Social Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2021. Successful candidates should be prepared to engage actively with diverse students across the liberal arts. Teaching responsibilities for this position will regularly include two courses per semester: a course in the Introductory sequence (e.g., Research Methods), introductory and intermediate Social Psychology courses, and an upper-level seminar on a topic related to the applicant’s research expertise. Other courses may be taught depending upon the candidate’s field of specialization. The successful applicant will maintain an active research program through which Smith students can obtain hands-on experience in Applied Social Psychology methods. Areas of particular interest within Applied Social Psychology include: LGBTQ+ issues (or other social justice/diversity issues), industrial-organizational psychology, advanced data-collection techniques (e.g., event sampling methodology, actigraphy watches, electronically activated recorders), and advanced multivariate quantitative and/or mixed-method data analysis. A Ph.D. in Applied Social Psychology, Social Psychology, or a closely related field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Psychology are encouraged to apply.
