The Department of Psychology at Western University invites applications from exceptional researchers to fill one full-time academic position in the area of Social Psychology. This hire is part of an intensive recruitment effort to hire a group of at least six faculty members in the areas of social, clinical, and industrial/organizational psychology. Successful applicants will join a cluster of research excellence in Social, Social Development, and Personality Psychology. The position is probationary (tenure track), at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We seek to hire faculty members whose research will help define the future of social psychology, and who are committed to excellence in graduate and undergraduate education. Successful applicants must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate collegiality in a comprehensive psychology department.

Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of hiring and be internationally recognized for excellence in social psychology research. Successful candidates must have demonstrated an outstanding research record of publishing in the highest quality journals, evidence of potential to obtain research funding, and evidence of supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Outstanding researchers in any area of social psychology, including those whose research links with social development and/or personality will be considered. The successful candidate’s research program must build on, or complement existing research strength in the current cluster of research excellence in Social, Social Development, and Personality Psychology. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous externally-funded research program; teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate research trainees; and demonstrate a track record of innovative and scientifically rigorous approaches to research.
