A Junior Specialist/lab manager position is available in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at University of California Santa Barbara with Dr. Brenda Major.

Primary areas of research involve examining (1) how diversity policies and initiatives influence perceptions of and reactions to discrimination, (2) the impact of perceived social norms surrounding prejudice expression on interracial interactions, (3) processes of resilience, including how people cope with and thrive in the face of threats to the self and social group.

There will be an opportunity to collaborate on research projects so an ideal candidate will have an interest and background in the topics studied in the lab. The duties of this position are diverse and will include assisting with study design and preparation, scheduling and running subjects, overseeing research assistants, performing literature searches, conducting data analyses, completing paperwork associated with IRB and grants, web page management, and generally helping with the organization and conduct of the numerous projects underway in the lab. We are looking for a detail-oriented and creative person with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, prior research experience, excellent writing skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). The ideal candidate will also be proficient with use of SPSS and have data analyses skills. Familiarity with programming and physiological (e.g., CVR) measurement techniques would also be desirable, although not essential.

The position is anticipated to begin June 2015 with a preferred start date of June 1, 2015 (a later start date is negotiable). Appointment is for 1 year with possibility of renewal.
