Dear, dear Phil,

Your wonderful foreward and support for the book "Psychology of future orientation," then the photo together at the International Congress of Psychology in Brussels (see me now at www.kul.lublin.pl/zaleski), plus meetings at UCLA -- can I forget it? Be as you are on these pictures = JOY spreading Phil Zimbardo. On your day we will raise a glass of wine in you honor.

With warm handshake,

Phil--

Congratulations on a great and -- needless-to-say -- inspiring career! Your research, teaching, and service has been noncomparable!! You are the prototype of the Compleat Academic. It's been fun to "bask in your reflected glory" -- and, what the heck, I think I'll continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Best regards,

Dear Phil,

I have been an admirer of your work since my graduate school days at Yale. And, being a "Z" like you, I was pleased to find there was at least one social psychologist who came after me in the alphabet!

I wonder whether you remember the questions you asked me when I was briefly considered for a social psychology position at Stanford along with my fellow Ph.D. students and good friends Mark Lepper and Mark Zanna. I still have a copy of my response letter…

Warmest wishes on your retirement, though it’s hard for me to believe that you will truly retire!
