Looking for research position and advice-Northern California
I have a B.S. in psychology, B.A. in criminology and a J.D. from Columbia. I have been practicing capital markets law in London for the past several years, and I am looking to apply to Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology starting December 2014. I am moving to northern California and I am looking to get research experience prior to applying (to confirm my interest in obtaining a Ph.D. and also to get back into the field). Does anyone know of any research assistant or lab manager position openings? Any advice as to how difficult it would be to obtain such a position (considering my background) is also welcome.
I have done some smaller psychology research projects in undergrad (Department of Criminology and the College of Medicine at University of Florida), have extensive legal research experience, have clinical experience as a suicide and crisis intervention counselor and legal work with domestic violence victims, am very detail oriented, organized and a self starter. I am primarily interested in psychopathy/psychopathology, forensics and personality disorders, but I am very open to other fields.
Thanks very much in advance!!
