 |  |  | Hello everybody. I'm managing a study about moral behaviors that uses surveys that participants can take entirely online and on their smartphones. The study has been going for about a month, and I've hit a wall with recruitment. Does anyone know of a good place to recruit participants for a study like this? I've tried Craigslist, but we need participants from across the country and Craigslist won't let me post ads in places outside of Chicago (where this study is based). Any other website recommendations you guys have had success with would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone would like to participate in the study, I'll post the ad and sign up info below.
The University of Chicago is seeking volunteers to participate in an innovative smartphone-research project on everyday morality. As a participant, you will be asked to complete a short one-time online survey of about 20-30 minutes and to sign up your smartphone for the mobile phase of the project.
In the mobile phase, you'll be asked to reply to as many of five short (1-4 minutes) daily smartphone surveys as possible. In each survey, we will ask you whether some moral or immoral event may have happened in your life (within the last hour), and if so, to answer a couple of questions about it. The links to these surveys will be sent to you at random times throughout the day via text messages for a period of three days. (All you need to do to start the survey is to click on the links.)
For this study, you need to have a smart-phone with internet access and text message (SMS) reception. The overall estimated time commitment is about 1 hr.
Each daily survey you reply to counts as a ticket for a raffle for (your choice of) either a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2 (7-inch, Wi-Fi) or an Amazon gift card voucher worth $200! We will do such a raffle for every 200 participants who participate, so chances of winning are very high compared to the average lottery!
We also hope that this project will provide you with interesting self-insights into how you think about moral issues.
